The Travis Perkins Group has a really exciting role for a Sustainable Materials Manager to join their commercial team. An opportunity to positively impact sustainability and carbon emissions through delivering our environmental policies, as relates to products and suppliers, across the Group.
What you’ll do
As the Sustainable Materials Manager you will work with the commercial team to deliver the organisation’s sustainability strategy around sustainable products and responsible sourcing, providing expertise and managing key stakeholders to drive and demonstrate improvements. You will be responsible for ensuring that the sustainable product and supplier commitments within the Group’s ESG policies are delivered through the actions of our commercial teams.
You will minimise the financial exposure of both the Plastic Packaging Tax and Extended Producer Responsibility for Packaging Waste regulations through detailed category plans. Tracking the performance against agreed company targets and communicating the progress across the Group.
You will support the longer term development of product and packaging options with improved sustainability credentials. Development will be aligned to market changes and customer demands Compliance with both Group policies, new and proposed legislation will be delivered through effective translation into commercially viable plans clearly communicated and tracked against agreed targets
You will be required to directly drive the supplier engagement and awareness of Group requirements including support of key supplier assessments alongside the responsible sourcing programme.
Is this you?
To be considered for this role you will have experience within the technical aspects of sustainability, particularly relating to product packaging and product design. It is essential that you have knowledge of product legislation and environmental impact.
You will be able to demonstrate strong communication skills, with the ability to deal with a variety of stakeholders and influence change at all levels. It is key that you have previously delivered change to improve product and supplier sustainability within an organisation.
Developing, managing and reporting sustainability KIPs is an important part of this position so it is essential that you have exceptional analytical and problem solving skills. You will be self driven, highly organised and have outstanding attention to detail.
