Here at Travis Perkins we’re urgently looking for a Service & Customs Compliance Manager to our established International Freight Services Team on a permanent basis in Northampton. 

As a Service & Customs Compliance Manager your role will be to ensure we remain compliant and on time delivery of all Travis Perkins Plc products to internal customers’ final delivery facilities, managing all group customs activities, as well as developing and driving the group trade compliance strategy and all related logistics and supply chain compliance needs. You’ll also have the exciting opportunity to lead our upcoming Customs Programme and really make this role your own! 

What you’ll do 
Responsible for ensuring worldwide compliance with international trade regulations, including managing the application process for export/import licenses, permits, and other requests for authorisation. 
Liaise with key stakeholders across all office locations and external legal bodies. Work proactively with all BU/departments to prevent trade disruptions, provide advice on required changes or improvements and follow up. 
Provide expert advice and guidance on commercial & operations projects, particularly focused on in country regulations, license requirements, product restrictions for importation 
Take the lead across the organisation for trade compliance strategy and systems with support from Group IT/Head of IFS, understand and support commercial and operational strategies. 
Managing the need for export and import licenses and ensure the correct application of customs legislation in terms of valuation, tariff classification and country of origin (preferential and non-preferential) across all sites.
Analyse and interpret export and import regulations, duty management and customs clearance processes. Ensure all processes are carried out in line with internal policies. 
Create and manage an internal Trade Compliance Audit schedule, focused on best practice and process 
Build excellent working relationships with HRMC, chamber of commerce, DIT, 3rd party providers/customs agencies and other external regulatory bodies 
Reporting to Head of IFS 

Ideally you’ll have
Strong experience in Trade Compliance / Duty management/customs clearance  
In depth understanding of tariff classifications, customs valuations and origin determination International shipping documents 
Experience of International Transport, international Imports and Exports and Freight. 
Working Knowledge of Dangerous Goods transportation.
