Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic Account Manager to join our Travis Perkins Managed Services team in a national, field based role. Our Managed Services team provides contract solutions for local authorities and the housing community, offering a bespoke service to suit the needs of two of our largest customers. 

We are looking for a driven Account Manager to take ownership of the ongoing strategic customer management of assigned national accounts. The focus includes development of strong client relationships, as well as delivering cost effective value added services. The role will involve national travel, so we are ideally looking for someone who is fairly centrally located.

What you’ll do
  • Develop key relationships at Director/Manager Level across the client in order to influence on going development and retention of the project including the maintenance and delivery of an annual strategy plan.
  • Identify and deliver further sales opportunities with the client in particular sub contractor, planned, void, new build works. This includes the delivery of sales opportunities for other Group brands such as ToolHire and Benchmarx etc.
  • Propose and manage the execution of margin enhancing opportunities such as effective price and product reviews.
  • Following the successful mobilisation of the project, act as the key contact for the client, attend review meetings as required, respond to all requests, and resolve all issues that should arise working with the BDE, central functions and operational teams.
  • Ensure that the Company meets all of its contractual obligations during the lifetime of the project, increasing the likelihood of contract extension at the point of re-tender. 
  • To lead the re-tender process working with key external and internal stakeholders to ensure re-tension of all contracts being managed.
  • Ensure that ‘high level’ initiatives (barriers to entry for competitors) such as IT integration, mobile working, van stock management, community investment, training and apprenticeships, CSR have a deliverable plan in place. Delivery of these initiatives will ensure margin is protected as there will be less focus on the price of materials.
  • Establish a ‘baseline’ of client performance measures at the start of the contract prior to partnering with TP and record the benefits of any value added initiatives and their effect on efficiencies and service levels.

Is this you?
We will need you to have extensive account management experience along with a strong sales background. Industry experience isn’t essential, the key to success in this role will be through your communication, customer focus, negotiation and people skills - experience with public sector clients would also be really beneficial. Most importantly, we’re looking for you to be professional, ambitious and driven to succeed.
