The Role
Working as part of our Travis Perkins Commercial team, the Head of Pricing is a key role which is responsible for defining, delivering and implementing a best practice pricing strategy that is simple for colleagues and delivers relevant pricing for customers.
The role focuses on managing the centralised pricing activities including a sustainable pricing model, competitor tracking, central pricing governance, ongoing management of pricing tools and pricing guidance.
Alongside this ensuring our systems and processes effectively support delivery of optimised pricing through working with Operations teams, IT, and 3rd Party Suppliers where required.
Working closely with commercial, sales, operations and finance, you will be an integral member of the commercial leadership team.
Principle Accountabilities:
Designing and developing key pricing strategies and mechanisms for use across the TP business in line with the goals of the business
Providing insightful pricing analysis to ensure defined policies are delivered; influence strategic decisions and interface with MD, Commercial, Operational and Finance Directors.
Influencing and collaborating with operational teams to improve our pricing capabilities to drive sales and profit growth, staff and customer confidence whilst maintaining price competitiveness and consistency
Influencing operational and sales teams to ensure correct utilisation of pricing tools and behaviours to drive maximum profitability
Designing, monitoring and reviewing pricing governance approaches to measure effectiveness of pricing, ensuring appropriate pricing authorisation and adherence to pricing policies throughout the business
Working with 3rd parties to deliver effective competitive insight into the business and use this to ensure that prices remain competitive and reflective of market prices
Working with IT to ensure our long term IT roadmap meets the needs of the business and also to deliver short term system enhancement
Influencing senior stakeholders in areas such as; pricing strategy, price messaging and promotion; pricing opportunities, customer insight & research, business change management and pricing measurement
What we are looking for
Experience in setting strategic pricing plans is preferred for this role, ideally with some experience of the merchant industry.
With a high level of commercial acumen you will understand the critical significance of pricing to the delivery of trading profit and be able to demonstrate exceptional commercial decision making utilising accurate and insightful analysis.
Exceptional communication and influencing skills are essential for the role, as you will be responsible for influencing pricing activities across the business - driving the decisions and activities of board members through to branch and sales teams. Experience of working within a matrix’d business of similar size and scope would also be an advantage as the role requires an understanding of, and collaboration with, the other brands across the group.
