Job Description

The Role 

Travis Perkins are currently recruiting for a Facilities Manager at our distribution centre in Northampton. This is a really exciting opportunity to be an integral part of a high performing team. 

The job role is essential to ensuring that the facility is maintained to the highest possible standard. To undertake, supervise and record all statutory inspections across the site using TP approved Contractors at all times. Arrange and supervise all maintenance relating to the fabric ensuring continued and uninterrupted use of the facility. Action all Health and Safety related issues without delay. 

What Are We Looking For? 

The principal responsibilities of this role are to undertake or supervise statutory inspections and tests to automated sprinkler system, fire alarm, electrical installation, emergency lighting, heating, ventilation and air conditioning installation, intruder and door entry system, shutter doors and dock levellers, lightning protection, lifts and hoists, automated barriers, racking and storage installation. Record and document all information. 

To take instruction on minor adaption works. Prepare specification and obtain tenders. Obtain the necessary permissions and supervise works through to completion. 

To supervise grounds maintenance and snow/ice precaution measures.To issue and manage the Permit to Work system. Continue to improve service level across the site through innovation and regular performance reviews of approved contractors. 

Manage the external team of TP approved contractors and consultants to ensure that adequate resources are in place to achieve delivery and lead and advance the professional team in executing projects. Manage the external team so they achieve their contracted responsibilities against KPI’s and SLA’s. All under guidance of Group Maintenance and Facilities Manager or Senior Group Building Surveyor 

Liaise with and manage key supplier contracts including but not limited to CHEP & storage media. Ensure compliance is maintained with annual audits, maintaining effective Branch and Supplier relationships to ensure accurate detail is captured and recorded.

This role is an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team, leading by example across all aspects of culture and taking an active interest in all site activities. The role holder will need to be able to communicate competently and effectively with Senior Management, Management and Colleagues alike along with external professional teams and other statutory bodies.  

The jobholder is required to maintain a high level of knowledge in the following;
  • Health and Safety Legislation 
  • Other legislation relating to construction
  • National legal frameworks 
  • Quantitative skills 
  • Group Policy and Procedures 

To provide 24/7 service to the facility and its users. Produce, challenge and control specifications and tender documents and comply at all times with the TP standard contract for construction works. 


Ensure that the MHE provider is delivering excellent value and service. Ensure all MHE is safe to use. Minimise damage to MHE and site fixtures and fittings. Check charges for out of contract repairs. Ensure SLA is met 


Must hold H&S qualification Support the development of a highly engaged H&S culture on the site Lead and support the development of highly engaged healthy and safe cultureEnsure compliance with all legal requirements
