Customer Service Advisor
Travis Perkins - General Merchanting
£Competitive Salary + Incentives + Benefits
Role Based: Northampton

The Customer Service Team provides help and advice to all Travis Perkins customers. It is therefore important that the team deals with these contacts professionally both when resolving problems and when setting suitable expectations where problems are passed to other groups to resolve.  


  • To answer telephone and Email queries from customers  in a professional manner.

  • Deal with Web order related issues.

  • Following procedures and using skilful questions identifying as quickly as possible the exact nature and seriousness of the issue being reported.

  • Where a telephone fix is not possible or appropriate, pass on the issue to the correct branch/ support department  ensuring that they are provided with all necessary details.

  • Accurately record all information onto the Customer Service  call logging system.

  • Escalate to the Supervisor any issues/complaints where required.

  • Undertake various administrative tasks as directed


  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Exceptional telecommunication skills

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to a broad spectrum of individuals.

  • Well organised with the ability to plan workload to achieve deadlines.

  • I.T. skills

  • Previous Customer Service experience is essential.

  • Customer and quality focussed

  • Have drive and the ability to think outside the box.

  • Team Player
