Commercial Analyst

Location: Lakeside - Northampton

We, at Travis Perkins have a great  opportunity for a commercially focused individual to join our General Merchanting Pricing Team. This role is diverse and offers many opportunities to influence across a range of functions.

Within this role,  you will mainly provide support to the Category Teams, helping deliver the best commercial decisions for the business in our General Merchanting Division. You will achieve this by the provision of accurate, consistent and meaningful insights which allow the business to prioritise investment and optimise performance. Using analytical models, you will analyse underlying data trends to identify risks and opportunities that could affect the achievement of business objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide accurate, consistent and meaningful summary analysis packs to a wide variety of stakeholders within the business

  • Support the team in developing and delivering key performance metrics which help the business understand performance against our goals

  • Manage and own all requirements to deliver reports using competitor, sales, supplier and pricing data

  • Use hypothesis led analysis to produce actionable insight which helps drive improved business performance


It would be great if you had experience in developing reports, demonstrating continuous improvement and advanced excel/ modelling .


But we need more than that...

Your strong communication, influencing and relationship building skills with a diverse range of key stakeholders will be key for you to succeed within this role. As well as working as part of a team, you will be comfortable working independently using your own initiative and have an ability to manage multiple work demands in a fast paced growth environment.


You will have an affinity for data, confidently translating complex data sets into simple and actionable presentations. Your keen eye for detail and excellent commercial acumen means you will be able to handle the data to drive decisions and spot opportunities to add value and improve business performance. Experience in a commercial environment would be preferable but not essential.


Most importantly, you will have the ability to challenge assumptions using evidence based analysis to drive positive change which are consistent with our goals.


Experience in Business Intelligence tools such as Qlikview, Tableau, SAS/R would be advantageous but not essential. Experience using Google Big Query, Java scripting & Python/R would also be a plus.
