If so, then now is a great time to join the UK’s biggest Builders Merchants. One year into a new strategy and change programme and we are already seeing the impact through our consistent market share growth. We now have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and innovative Buyer/Category Manager to join our Commercial team based in Northampton.

At Travis Perkins, our mission is simply to be the best builders merchants in town. We operate in an ever-changing and highly competitive market and have over 200 year’s heritage behind us, and we continue to grow and adapt in order to win.

What you’ll do
Reporting into either a Senior Category Manager or directly into the Trading Director, you will have full accountability for the end-to-end category and customer proposition. Centred around our customer strategy, you will need to find and work with the best suppliers at the best prices, and build and maintain fantastic relationships with our branches, providing them with the service that they need to win.

Is this you?
With experience of Category Buying / Management (with either a Merchanting or Retail background), excellent negotiation and influencing skills you will have confidence in your ability and be able to take in information from a variety of sources in order to maximise our commercial success. • Ability to juggle multiple projects at any one time
  • An eye for numbers - analytical and problem solving
  • Ability to influence and negotiate to ensure we are getting the best deals for our customers, always
  • Able to inspire and support those working around you, and be a strong team player with experience of cross-functional working
  • Ability to cut through complexity
  • Show resilience and tenacity

Life at Travis Perkins is a fast paced environment and can be pressurised at times; however, if having an active role in a challenging business and being part of a dynamic team is what drives and motivates you then we would love to hear from you.

What’s in it for you?
You’ll be supported by some of the best training & development in the industry. Our impressive internal succession programme means, whatever it is you do with us,  it will be easy for you to learn, grow and develop across the Travis Perkins Group. We’ll also equip you with a benefits package that grows as you grow with the company:
