Caitlin, HR Business Partner

I am a HR Business Partner in the General Merchanting Division, supporting the Travis Perkins Sales and Range Centre Distribution teams.

I started in HR after studying for a HR Masters in Manchester, and I built my business experience up there whilst enjoying the city. I then worked for a car manufacturer’s, but after three years I started looking into what opportunities there were at Travis Perkins and what it was like to work there. I knew several people from Northampton who worked there, and felt the Group would be a good fit for me culturally and to help progress my career. I was contacted about a role and jumped at the change, and honestly haven’t looked back once!

At Travis Perkins, I love being able to make real decisions that impact the business’ performance and development on a daily basis. It sometimes pushes me out of my comfort zone but that’s where learning takes place and I regularly feel a real sense of development and achievement. My manager and colleagues make this challenge enjoyable, and I can find support and advice whenever I need it. 

I really enjoy my job and working with my team, but another great point about working for TP is access to a site called MyPerks. MyPerks gives all colleagues access to hundreds of discounts and cashback at shops and websites that most people use regularly such as Debenhams, Currys PC World or Morrisons. It’s really easy to use, and you can do it on your mobile phone, which makes your money go further.

TP Plc is a great place to work. We truly live the values in our Cornerstones without it feeling contrived or forced. There is a culture of high challenge and high support, so you will develop and you will find people around the business who are genuinely happy to help you and share their time and knowledge for the benefit of our colleagues.
