Alan, Tool Hire Manager (Level 3 Apprentice)

I joined the Level 3 Managing a Team Apprenticeship program in October 2017 and have worked at TP for 2 years. I moved to TP from a competitor as Travis Perkins are the ‘bigger animal’ and ‘uphold family values’. I wanted to be involved in the program as the CEO John Carter was an apprentice and it just shows how successful the schemes are. It has been hard work but the support provided throughout the program makes it worthwhile.

It is great that Travis Perkins invest in people currently in the business and it is a great opportunity for me to develop my skills and progress in my career. I have enjoyed getting involved in the workshops especially learning about insights and gaining my own profile. The best part of the program is networking within the business and building working relationships throughout the group.

“DO IT” it's hard work but you will meet some fantastic people and learn a wide range of new skills along the way.

Tool hire is my passion and I believe it is not spoken about enough throughout the industry. I will be looking at securing a Tool Hire sales role in the future.
